One of my least favorite parts of a knitting project is winding the yarn into neat, knot-free balls. I don't mind swatching before I start - my mind is still fitting all the details together before I begin, and I find this to be interesting enough.
However, winding each ball into knot-free balls is just work. Not knitting on the project. Not interesting if it's a "normal" skein but so necessary if it's a big ball of yarn spaghetti mess....so you hope it is boring - but then don't do it because it's boring.
So last night I went to Starbucks. Toffee Nut Soy Latte at hand I took the pumpkin colored, high back velvet chair by the window & light (needed all the light for the possible knots) and starting winding. It was so much better! Maybe I DO LIKE winding yarn, I just haven't done it in the right location. Like real estate, knitting details are depend on location location location. I get it now!

I'll pause at this spot to bring up the famous blog topic of the public's reaction to someone knitting in public. I was knitting and sipping my coffee very peacefully when I got hooked into a conversation I didn't want to have when someone came up and asked, "Are you knitting?"
Yep.
"Is it a blanket?"
Yep
"My Mom used to knit..."
And away we went on a long conversation with a stranger. No one walked up to my husband and said, "Are you working on a computer?" and then segwayed into their life story...
I know it's a common moronic question asked knitters in public...just had to join the blog vent about it!
