Hobby Lobby

I had an hour to myself amidst the rigors of our cross country road trip - so of course I hunted down a local yarn store to visit. I found out about this place online and had to visit in person. Knitche is a delightful store on Main street of Downer's Grove. It is conveniently located next to a wine cafe, specializing in wine & cheese tasting platters. Knitche specializes in yarns & espresso - a great combo! The space is laid out well with cafe & work area in the back. A wide selection of yarns and some incredible bags spread throughout the store. Could have spent tons of money in this place on both yarn & bags!

Due to an unfortunate traffic jam due to a train breaking down on the tracks and a tight schedule, I didn't have enough time to browse, pick out yarn for a project and purchase it...so I left with inspiration but empty bags. Oh man!

I had another break in the schedule today and tried to track down a yarn store in this suburb - but had problems with the address and our gps. Never did find it. Went to a Michaels craft store just to browse their yarn section...nope.

On the way home I passed a Hobby Lobby and stuck up my high end yarn nose in their general direction. Then the impact of going home without yarn a second trip in a row hit home and I decided to try it. What a great store. Had some wonderful home furnishings and a nice yarn selection. Took two walks through for one to catch my eye - but it did and it's affordable. I plan on making a baby blanket altering the garter stitch blanket pattern - and this yarn will be perfect.

They were also having a 50% sale on baskets - so I bought a lined basket with handles to use on the road and will use it later in our house...win/win!

I spent an hour with a toffee nut latte in Starbucks winding my first ball and swatching. It went so quick I was even able to cast on and get the project going.

Just thought I'd post a public apology to Hobby Lobby and say that this high end yarn buyer found a great buy there today and I'm happy and knitting once again.
