I have links to two unique recipes that I'm putting on my shopping list for next week. Maybe they will inspire you as well!
The first inspiration from was Alabama Chanin. This post gives a great sounding chili recipe. What I like about this one is that they make their own chili powder. Yep, the recipe for a homemade chili powder that you can tweak to your exact tastebuds. Love the idea of this. I haven't found a basic chili powder that I'm just loving here in upstate New York. Will try this out and give you my personalized version of the recipe.
The second inspiration is from Birds and Trees. I follow this blog regularly (link on the left sidebar) and was amazed by this little jem - pies in a jar! She got the inspiration from another great blog Our Best Bites. The jist is that you get the squatty little canning jars and you make little pies in them. Dough pressed into place, filled with fruit pie filling and then topped off with a cutie piece of top crust. The great thing about these is that you can freeze them as soon as you make it - and then pull it from the freezer and cook an individual little pie anytime you want it! Yep, from freezer to oven in the little jar and you have a hot little pie! I just love this idea. What a great gift to give a hostess. What a wonderful thing to have in your freezer for special moments that pop into your "normal" life.
Be inspired to cook spices, chili and pies in a Jar!
Alabama Chanin has a post title I love: Domestically Refreshed. I could use some refreshment in the grocery list & dinner menu part of my domestic life. Hope these will Domestically Refresh you.
