My friend Betsy came to visit over the Christmas holidays. She and her girls had driven up from North Carolina to visit family and she gave us a huge block of time one day for lunch & catching up. My sweet friend Donna joined us to make it extra special.
Betsy gave me this as a hostess gift- it is a batch of oatmeal, chocolate chip, cranberry cookie dough. Yep, she made the dough, wrapped it in parchment & colored celophane and then wrapped it with a great big red bow. She froze the dough and kept it in her cooler as she drove to NY. I put it right in my freezer and have smiled at it every time I've eyed it waiting for me in there.
This weekend I decided to make Betsy's christmas cookies. So I popped it in the fridge last night to thaw, and then cut and cooked them this morning. My kitchen smells delicious. I"m having a cup of tea with my hot-out-of-the-oven cookie and thinking of my friend Betsy (and of course Jim!)
Just wanted to pass along this great gifting idea. On the day of her visit we had tons of Christmas cookies we were serving to guests. If she'd given cookies, they would have been added to the trays. However, on a Sunday mid-January to have some fresh baked delicious cookies with no work is INCREDIBLE! What a great gift. I'm inspired to do this for my next hostess gift. Thanks Betsy!

Wow! Great idea! That sounds like a great gift to give anytime! Does the dough have to be egg-less or is it ok because you freeze the dough? Thanks for posting! I love random posts like these... inspiring!
