Finishing & Blocking Big Squishy Lovefest

I started the stitching, finishing & blocking process with the breakneck deadline of having it done and laying out to dry in less than 24 hours. It needs to dry and finish so i can pack it by the time I leave next week. Finishing on a deadline - how many times is this the story in the knitting world?

I made one tactical error within the first hour of stitching and it took me almost 2 hours of frustrating, frustrating, did i mention frustrating work to correct. Did I mention two hours of frustration last night?

So this morning I planted myself on the floor and stitched it while in place so no mis-seam would ever be mis-sewn again. No more frustration.

So 6 hours later it's ready to be blocked. My neck is stiff and I'm glad to get off the floor - but all is done and I'm happy. Blocking will be easy compared to stitching - right?

Here are all the pieces laid out on the living room floor. My son had to help me lay all the pieces in place. My spatial abilities are always weak but in this process it was devastating. He spent about 5 minutes and had it all laid out and in order. He was even able to make it say "J" and "D" throughout the process in honor of Jen & Dave, who will receive this as their wedding present. Funny and brillant - what a kid!

Finished with the stitching! I will block and lay it out for the final steps - but all in one piece and generally in the shape it's supposed to be. Hurrah!
