Prince Caspian

So maybe this is turning into a movie critic blog! As life would have it, my children's school had a teacher's strike ON THE DAY of my son's 12th birthday. Great rejoicing was heard as we suddenly cared about the plight of underpaid school teachers nationwide. That, and the fact that we could drive to Poland and watch Prince Caspian. This has a twofold benefit: we get to see the movie in English (with polish subtitles which we can ignore) and my now 12 year old son can sit in the front seat of the car for the two hour drive to Katowice, legally for the first time. Huge honor to see the world pass by the front window.

We reread Prince Caspian as a family to prepare for the sacred viewing and enjoyed the fine writing and characters of Caspian. (On a sidenote, I like this story so much because there are SO MANY HUMANS - an unusual occurence in fantasy literature). We entered the movie with high expectations.

I totally enjoyed the visual, costuming, characters...a total homerun for me. The added scenes, both battle and semi-romantic, were fitting and added some visual drama to the story. In truth I loved the fact that the fate of the entire world hung on a duel, but I know that doesn't make the most gripping 2 hour long movie.

The movie finished and we partied our way over to Pizza Hut for some import goodness. A great day all around!
I'm sure we'll own Caspian when it comes out on DVD and I'll enjoy watching it again.
