I was inspired by a photo in Woman's Day October edition. That half hour in the orthodontist's waiting room wasn't wasted after all! I tore out the photo and brought it home to my family and we agreed it was THE pumpkin for us this Halloween. My husband sat yesterday afternoon and did all the hard, manual labor of scraping the seeds, and scraping off the outer skin - lots of manly scraping taking place around here. Not a job for the feeble, I might add.
We added yellow leaves for the "hair" instead of moss. We had some wonderful red ones from the tree in my banner photo - but they dried all hard & crinkly so we had to throw the away. Yellow leaves stayed large & piable - perfect for our hairline.
My daughter is using the pumpkin today for her class Harvest Party. Our family will have it on the porch tomorrow full of our trick or treat candy. Who wouldn't want to come onto my inviting porch and grab some candy out of this sweet pumpkin?
Happy Halloweeen
