Garage Sale Finds

On the way home from an errand I stopped by a garage sale. The sale had two benches, hand painted by New England artist Nora Kager. They are ultra sturdy & practical - but have beautiful colors & details as well. I didn't have cash on me so I had to ask Mrs. Garage Sale to hold them for me. I returned a half hour later with my husband and $30. The benches were washed with oil soap and put into place in our entry area within the hour.

After some contemplation we went back to the garage sale for a bedside table for our daughter's room, painted by the same artist. Mrs. Garage Sale starts chucking when I approach for the third time of the day and starts negotiating lower prices on other items still at the sale. Nope, these items are enough.

I've loved seeing them every day and have enjoyed the practical aspect of a sturdy sitting bench in the entry area. The one under the kitchen window makes me smile everytime I look at it. Not bad for a garage sale deal!

The eating area bench is painted with summer flowers & grass, butterflies & dragonflies. A beautiful touch of color under our window sill.

The second bench has a blueberry & bird theme - a little more subdued in colors but eye-catching.
