Polish Pottery

Three of us die-hard adventurers went on a pottery excursion yesterday. My daughter was on spring break and we "needed" to get some pottery before we headed back to the states where we will be living without a regional source of Polish pottery. A hardship indeed!

Two big things on my list were dinner plate sized plates and a bowl to make my pizza dough. Polish pottery comes in various and less symetrical sizing than other sets of dishes. I have two sizes of plates that hover around lunch and salad plate size. As my boys grow up and eat more we decided we needed some dinner plate size dishes.

I have a pottery bowl I use every Saturday evening when we make pizza dough. The pottery warms nicely so the dough rises beautifully sitting on the stovetop as the oven preheats. But alas, after years of pizza dough use, mine cracked on the rim. Still useable but about to come into parts on any given pizza night. So a replacement dough bowl was high on the "to get" list.

The list also included any other small things that called out to me from the factory shelves. Those items included a cute little plate, sugar & creamer, snowman & wife candle holders and little salsa dishes.

A shot of all our pottery treasures unloaded on the island. What a fun site to see! The colors, patterns, and textures really stimulate me. We sat and adored each item and pattern. It will be a delight to use all these fun things in the future in my daily life.

Funny site note: you know how baseball fans love stats? favorite players hits or home runs? I had my first born math genius son do some pottery stats for his Mom. Here are my stats
67 items purchased (each item counted as one no matter how small - a spoon - or large - a dough bowl)
20% on sale
35% Unikat (unique pattern hand signed by the artist as a collectable piece)
A little crafty pottery girl stats for you to enjoy today! I'm sure this will catch on and we'll get collectible cards soon.

Can't end without a photo of this: the pile of paper used to wrap this pottery during transport home. It's handy for us to have as we pack up the pottery to move. A great paper pile!

you make my "collection" of 4 pieces look so small :-) You will be amazed to find a few pieces at the Christmas Tree Shop…I also see it at Marshall's & TJ Maxx. Not nearly the beautiful variety you get in Poland, of course, but if you go through extreme withdrawals once you get to the States, those are a couple of places to try!
