Packing the Stash

We're moving in a couple of months. My weekly shopping lists now include packing boxes and bubble wrap. I worked on some Christmas dishes to get me in the packing mood. Today I tackled the big job...the one ever knitter dreads - packing the stash. Decided this was something that could be done now when I still have sanity on my side. I had 3 plastic rubbermaid tubs of yarns, needles, notions and various crafting supplies in my storage room. All three were unloaded onto the coffee table, couch, bench and floor in the living room. My son helped in the unpacking, moaning and wondering aloud where all this yarn came from!

In the end, I was able to compact it down to one (yes, really ONE) moving box which is neatly marked: Knitting supplies: move to storage.

I have two projects to finish before I leave and those were left out of the storage box. I also have one bag with my Here and There Cable scarf to continue knitting in this transition period. I think I'll be pressed to get this finished up before I go.

There is a huge empty space in my storage room where the tubs used to sit.

For those out there who think this is the unthinkable, packing and sorting the stash can feel great. All the yarns are in order, sorted, and I still feel excited enough about them to ship them across the Atlantic. A great feeling!
