Duck Tape Prom Outfits

In case you haven't heard yet, there is a pretty cool and unusual college scholarship opportunity out there - the Duck Tape "Stuck at Prom" project. Couples have to make prom outfits out of Duck Tape and send in photos. People (like you and me!) get to judge them and the winning couples get scholarships to college. The couples have done an outstanding job this year - they should all be applying to fine arts programs after this prom photo. I also love the creative touches of each couple - no two alike. What a great way to get around the expensive prom season - make your own with Duck Tape and come out with college money. As a parent I like this idea all around! Here are a couple of my favorites:

This is my favorite couple in the competition so far. Theirs look like outfits teenagers would wear to a prom. The least costume of the bunch. I also love the cut out work and the texturing of her skirt. They look like a great duck tape couple!

What a dapper pair. I love that they took the heaviness of duck tape and worked on feather and airy designs. His cut out designs on the jacket are a touch of color and elegance. Well done to come up with this design and pull it off (you can also see her tape shoes!)

This couple has the zaniest outfit going. Love her hair. (Just learned how to do that with my daughter's hair and a plastic water bottle!). I love the dimensionality of her skirt design - but think his outfit looks the most "tape-ish" of the boys.

This one reminds me of a production of Singing in the Rain we saw at the outdoor ampitheater in St Louis,MO a couple summers ago. Love the color and whimsey of their outfits.

Click the link on over to the site and vote - these kids have worked hard and deserve some scholarship dollars - so get your vote in for your favorite couple. Maybe go out and buy some tape and get your kids working on future winning designs.
