Last week I was at my cello lesson, explaining to my teacher that I wasn't fully prepared because I was in Slovenia teaching at a conference the week before and had very limited practice time. (Slovenia is part of the former Yugoslavia and is called the Sunny Side of the Alps, a great place to visit). I then had to tell her I would be gone next week and unable to be at lesson because I was spending a week in Serbia, teaching at another conference. (Serbia is also part of former Yugoslavia).
My teacher leaned over her cello and said very slowly, "You're spending a lot of time in Yugoslavia!" At that moment I looked around and wondered "WHO AM I?" I take cello lessons in a foreign language, travel twice to former Yugoslavia in order to teach and think this is a "normal but full" month for our family.
All that to say, I"ll be gone for a week but will blog when I get back. I'm off to spend more time in Yugoslavia!
