I've been struggling this weekend with cold, damp weather, hormones, the continuation of some struggles. The Psalmist said it best when he said his soul was sad and downcast within him. Ancient words that describe my inner life exactly. I decided to begin reading and meditating on the Psalms as I prepare to study them more thoroughly in the new year. I found this online Bible study resource focusing on the Psalms which I am very excited to try. There is a WONDERFUL online art link conneccted with this page. I enjoyed browsing several centuries of art associated with David and the psalms. I'll keep you informed as I interact with this Bible study resource - but feel uplifted and moved so far.
I also spent time this morning using the wonderful resources on http://www.universalis.com/today.htm They have organized online daily readings (Morning prayers and Evensong). I enjoyed reading and praying the Psalms in this way this morning. It helped focus my mind. The Canticle (psalms outside of the book of Psalms) was from Ecc. 36 and deeply touched me as I prayed for the conflict and peace talks for Darfur. Comfort for my soul and direction in praying for others. A wonderful time spent in Morning prayer.
